Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Sonic on your PS3 or X360

Sega has not released a new collection of Sonic titles to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the blue hedgehog, but promotes the anniversary on PSN and XBL through the release of Sonic the Hedgehog 20th Anniversary Event.

During this event will be available several discount Sonic titles, including some games with reductions up to 50% as the Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 and Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing.

Also new to PSN users during this event is the release of the demo of Sonic Generations and Sonic the Hedgehog Anniversary Bundle, which consists of four Sonic games for only € 17.99, available until July 12.

Additionally, users will be able to buy XBL titles & Knucles Sonic Adventure and Sonic for 240 MS points each, up to July 28.

Update: Sonic the Hedgehog Anniversary Bundle consists of Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1, Sonic Adventure (DX and add-on), and dynamic theme Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1.

Congratulations Sonic

Sonic is grown up, turns 20 in 2011 and Sega is sparing no efforts to celebrate the birthday of their mascot. Sonic Generations is almost here and no shortage of compilations where we can play the older titles of the blue hedgehog.

However I still think that one needs a collection commemorating the 20th anniversary of Sonic, with all the classics for this generation consoles. Still for sale Sonic Mega Collection Plus and Sonic Gems for the PS2, cheap, for € 10, but not perfect for me. Problems? Yes, there are versions that run at 50Hz PAL : ( You can say that experience is a reliable, yes, go wrong, just like the originals ran in our Mega Drive, but after playing a Sonic 1, 2 or 3 on a console at 60Hz NTSC you will see what is speed.

The Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection for PS3 and X360 has the Sonics to 60Hz, but lack the acclaimed Sonic CD versions and Lock-On Sonic & Knucles ... with a DLC had resolved the matter, but Sega decided to get side.

So if someone from Sega 8BR go through, here is the list of games I like to have a collection of Sonic's birthday:

  • Sonic The Hedgehog
  • Sonic The Hedgehog 2
  • Sonic The Hedgehog 3
  • Sonic & Knucles
  • Knuckles in Sonic 2
  • Sonic 3 & Knuckles
  • Sonic CD
  • SegaSonic The Hedgehog (Sonic the Arcades yes)
  • Sonic 3D: Flickies' Island

As a bonus can by the Sonics the GameGear, Master System and Neo Geo Pocket. All running at 60Hz, without borders or slowdowns. Do this and I'll be grateful the rest of life :)

I know this will be very difficult to become a reality, so they can send me one of these spectacular statues that created for the 20th anniversary I perdouo you ;)

Sonic Generations - New Images

Sega continues to show more pictures and videos of the next Sonic Generations. So far does not disappoint :)

You can see more pictures in Flickr set of the Sega of America!

Sonic Generations

There is nothing new that Sega has done evil enough to your pet. In recent times, most Sonic games have been of average quality, largely by two factors: a poor transition from 2D to 3D format and the abandonment of the original gameplay that gave fame to the Sonic games on the Mega Drive. Sega tried to redeem himself with Sonic 4 Episode 1 and failed again , but seems to have learned from their mistakes.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Sonic, Sega announced a few months ago a new title, revolutionary they said, that would please the fans of Sonic of all generations. The teaser trailer shows Sonic the current generation, tall, lean and green eyes side by side with his alter ego classic, lower fat and dark eyes. The Sonic Mega Drive, the 2D Sonic that we used. This was followed by a couple videos of the game, promising the return of classic gameplay, but as always, stood behind me not to disappoint and waited to see more ...

Today my friends, not on purpose, I had a birthday gift from Sega. The first real gameplay videos were shown and could not be better. The gameplay of "Sonics" this generation is there, improved, but the icing on the cake is the classic gameplay that is finally adapted to the current generation of consoles. Finally managed to get the Sega Sonic 3D conditions. Watch the videos below and pick up your jaw off the floor. I'm already counting down to go to this Sonic Generations.

Sega takes my money! You did it!

Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection [Deja-Vu?]

Even a few hours ago I wrote about the Sega Mega Drive Collection for PS2 and PSP and I have just received a press release announcing that Sega will release the Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection for PS3 and Xbox 360.

Developed by Backbone Entertainment, this title has more than 40 classic, making it the largest collection of Sega games released today. There is still no information of all the titles included, but some are already known: Sonic the Hedgehog 1, 2 and 3, Columns, Alien Storm, Ecco the Dolphin, Space Harrier and Streets of Rage 1, 2 and 3.

The classics that make up this collection are:

  • Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle

  • Beyond Oasis
  • Bonanza Bros..
  • Columns
  • Comix Zone
  • Decap Attack starring Chuck D. Head

All titles are in 720P like the classic Sega's already available on Xbox 360 Live Arcade and will be on the market in early 2009 around the world.

As a bonus, included in this collection are some titles from Sega Master System. Hopefully these titles from Master System does not count towards the 40 titles announced : D

Sega Mega Drive Collection

Continuing to celebrate 20 years of Genesis , you could not fail to make known the Sega Mega Drive Collection, available for the PSP and PlayStation 2 .

For fans of Sega, this compilation is really must-buy. To our hopes are 28 of the most famous classic Sega Genesis: Alex Kidd, Altered Beast, Bonanza Bros., Columns, Comix Zone, Decap Attack, Ecco the Dolphin, Ecco: The Tides of Time, Ecco Jr, Flicky, Gain Ground , Golden Axe, Golden Axe II, Golden Axe III, Kid Chameleon, Phantasy Star II, Phantasy Star III, Phantasy Star IV, Ristar, Shinobi III, Sonic The Hedgehog, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Super Thunder Blade, Sword of Vermilion, Vector Man Vector Man 2, Virtua Fighter 2. As you really like the Sega fans still included the arcade versions of Astro Blaster, Tip Top, Eliminator, Space Fury, Super Zaxxon, but are hidden and must be unlocked as you will be playing the remaining titles.

Outside titles that were about me bring more value to this collection, such as Streets of Rage, Shadow Dancer, Sonic 3, Sonic and Knucles and 32X version of Virtua Fighter. However, as you can see the list of titles above, there is a very special title: Golden Axe III, which is first marketed in Europe in this compilation.

In addition to games, we can also access information on the securities included in the collection, such as cheats, artwork, interviews and trivia.

Although it was launched in 2007, this time we can still find the PSP version for 20 € in most specialty shops. Sega Genesis Collection is actually a collection piece with enough quality.

Highly recommended!
