Sonic 4 - Ep. 2 - Bad or not so?

It was with a mixture of fear and curiosity that gave a new opportunity for Sega, this second episode of Sonic 4, especially for having been completely disillusioned with the first.

I will not "hit more on the same key," can read my review of the first episode, but let me say that Sega "heard" the fans and somehow managed to give a "gift to the thing." Not to say that this completely redeemed Ep2 Sega and Sonic 4 becomes a better game because of it. No. But we have a fun, functional and playable.

The physics has been improved, but do not expect miracles. Not having spent the physics of Sonic's classic, nope, we continue with a mix of Sonic the heavy head, a little less, but with some adjustments that will not leave us frustrated as the first episode.

The big star of the game is undoubtedly Tails, who will like Sonic 2, behind a breath of fresh air to gameplay, allowing you to use new combos and moves that help Sonic on several occasions. Back are also some elements already our acquaintances, such as the Tornado, Sonic plane, which on some levels pilotaremos and Metal Sonic, the great nemesis of Sonic from Sonic CD, entitled the "Metal Episode", four unique levels if they purchased the first game, like Lock-On technology from Sonic & Knuckles, a small but fun "nod" to the old days. connecting the history of Sonic CD Sonic 4 Eps I and II. Return are also bonus levels in "half-pipe" also in the likeness of Sonic 2 and a multiplayer mode co-op either locally or online, with options-score attack or time-attack.

Graphically, Ep.2 is much better than its predecessor, leaving out the pre-rendered scenes to make way for real-time 3D environments that facilitate the location of the characters and enemies on screen at the same time it reduces the blurr that both hinder the Ep.1. The animation has been improved by giving rise to movements softer and more fluid, unlike mechanized movements which had previously.

In short, sonic 4 Ep. II can be considered a good game, not a worthy successor of Sonic's classic, but it is still a fun game to play. I think Sega could have gone further and have adapted this new engine of the ep. 2 and applies it to Ep.1 similar to that made Metal Episode, it would bring even more value to the game and greatly improve gaming experience Ep.1 Sonic 4.

We now await the Ep.3 which must include the participation of Knuckles and hope that Sega further tune the game engine.

Sonic 4 Episode 2 will be available for X360, PS3, PC, Android and iOS this week.

That this was the story of one of the best shooters of the Commodore Amiga. Developed by Cope-Com in 1989 and edited by Innerprise, Battle Squadron, the spiritual successor to Hybris, was so good that in 1990, the Amiga Computing magazine was forced to assign a score of 109% because they had already given 100% Xenon II, another great shooter was the 16-bit.

Battle Squadron was a wonder of play. A tough vertical shooter for one or two players, with a brutal amount of colors and objects on the screen simultaneously, all accompanied by a memorable soundtrack. Combining all this with a flawless and smooth gameplay, Battle Squadron did something unique, never seen on the Amiga, only in the arcades. It was the dream of every happy owner of a Commodore Amiga.

One

Arrivals in 2012, Cope-Com launches Battle Squadron versions for Android and iOS, adapting the game to the functionality of these new devices. With the name of Battle Squadron One, the remake allows control of the ship through the touch screen or motion controls, but the best feature is undoubtedly for the tablets and Cases that allow two players to play simultaneously on the same screen (in split screen). Besides all these innovations, the addition of trophies helps modernize this classic standards of today. Outside was the introduction of the game, which always stood for good or ill player in history. After the introduction of the game and can be viewed through an option in the start menu instead of the original game that appeared just a few seconds without having to choose any option.

Battle Squadron One brings back the magic of the original, with minimal loss, managing to prove that a true classic never dies.

Another World - 20th Anniversary Edition

In 1991, the heyday of the Amiga, Eric Chahi by Delphine Software, gives us his vision of an alien world, putting us in the role of Lester Knight Chaykin, booked a physicist who embarks on an adventure unexpectedly after an incident with the their experience in a particle accelerator.

I think not stray too far from the truth if I say that most of us, gamers, played at least once in their life to Another World, or Out Of This World is known as the American continent. Another World was so bombastic when it appeared that no one was indifferent. The dreamlike atmosphere of the game combined with an animation unlike anything that had been done up there, gave us an almost cinematic experience unlike what was the norm back then.

Due to the huge success it had, after being originally released on the Commodore Amiga, then was released for the PC, Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, Sega Mega CD, Mac and 3DO.

The result of "one-man-show" Another World is a game that 20 years later can be a milestone in the history of video games and having perfectly aged and old can attract new gamers with its re-edits for platforms more current.

Five years ago, Eric Chahi released a collector's edition for Windows, which contained in addition to a remastered edition with high resolution graphics, the game's soundtrack, a making-of video of 20min and daily scans of game development , a real sweet to the fans. Although no longer on sale in physical format, you can purchase this excellent edition in digital format by the GOG or the DotEmu .

Today, the most recent edition is for iOS and Android platforms, edited by DotEmu .

Despite not having all the extras of the collector's edition, these versions have some new features like the ability to switch between the SD and HD with a simple swipe on the screen, achievements, automatic save points and a remastered soundtrack and effects.

In short, two excellent editions to remember or even know about this fabulous classic from the golden age of video games!

Adventures of Dizzy

Although Super Mario and Sonic are two huge icons of gaming, the fact that they are pets consoles, unique to their respective brands, has caused many gamers with computers, such as Spectrum, Commodore 64 and Amiga adopt other "idols".

Dizzy, an egg adventure, created by Oliver Twins , was the star in about 10 games, all multi platform and great successes in the genre, thus becoming the icon for those who did not have consoles.

Today Codemasters releases a remake of one of the best titles in the series - Dizzy: Prince Of The Yolkfolk - iOS and Android platforms at a budget price.

Not much to say about the game itself, since we are dealing with a title that works much the basis of nostalgia, to be sure the old fans of Dizzy the first to buy the game.

The gameplay is classic, we will not find or do not hit shots, but dialogue and use of objects to progress in the adventure. Dizzy: POTY is a very fun game that attracts by its simplicity and its puzzles.

It is worth not only to remember the price but if this is your case.
