Square-Enix continues its tradition of recycling / re-invent the Final Fantasy saga, and now brings us the ultimate compilation of one of the best titles in the last 20 years: Final Fantasy IV.
Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection is, as the name implies, a collection of three games (spoiler free):
Final Fantasy IV - the origin, originally released on the Super Nintendo in Japan and the USA (as Final Fantasy II here), tells the story of Cecil, Rosa and Kain and his quest to save the Blue Planet (Earth) from the evil plans of Golbez . Along the way, they find several characters who join your group, joining forces, the good style of JRPGs. FFIV is a milestone in the saga to be the first FF game that deeply define the personalities of the characters and their story.
Final Fantasy IV: Interlude - a small episode that bridges the gap between Final Fantasy IV and Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, with a duration of 15 hours of play.
Final Fantasy IV: The After Years - originally released in Japan in 2008 and 2009 mobile to Wii via Wii Ware, is the sequel to Final Fantasy IV, 17 years later, told in short episodes from the point of view of original characters and their descendants. The story begins with the appearance of a second moon which raises the concern of Cecil and Rosa as to what happened earlier (in FFIV).
Final Fantasy IV has had other releases (GBA and PS1) and recently a remake for the NDS, in 3D, similar to what they had done with Final Fantasy III, but this PSP version follows the same formula of previous releases on PSP: 2D graphics redrawn, and new effects, and audio soundtrack.
This collection is a must for all fans of Final Fantasy, even those who have played FFIV one of its previous iterations. The inclusion of FFIV: Interlude and FFIV: The After Years offers a good hundred hours of extra game at a price that can not be another platform, since the Wii ware, all episodes of FFIV: After Years are paid separately to Also not to mention the extras included, such as the choice of the original soundtrack or rearranged and the galleries of original artwork that will unlock throughout the game.
In Europe, the collection was launched in two versions: standard and collector, the only difference being the packaging with special artwork and the inclusion of cards with artwork of the characters and a cloth with artwork of Cecil, the main character.
Another title retrogamers mandatory for fans of the Final Fantasy saga!
