30 Years of Space Invaders

2008 is the year of the 30th anniversary of one of the most popular games of all time. It is said that most people have played space invaders, or a clone / spinoff at least once in a lifetime.

Space Invaders now it seems simple, but a game was quite revolutionary in the 80s and it was rare for a playground that did not have a Space Invaders arcade's always someone to burn coins or a small line to play. In Japan, caused a shortage of 100 yen coins and 2007, Taito announced that the game had yielded half a million dolars. Like many games of that time, Space Invaders has become a classic, leading to numerous titles and inspiring game makers today, but also inspiring part of gaming culture and urban areas. The Vaders, so they call the little pixelated aliens, can be viewed on displays of street art, graffiti and even on clothing or other items. It is a symbol of a generation of community and culture.

To celebrate 30 years of Space Invaders and prove that the series is not dead, Taito presents fans with two titles. The first came out in July in Europe and is called Space Invaders Extreme is available for the Sony PSP and Nintendo DS. The second title still only out in Japan but is planned out in the world this month, called Space Invaders Get Even on WiiWare and will be available.

Space Invaders Extreme

Space Invaders Extreme is a remake of the original Space Invaders is one of few who can keep the spirit of classic and innovative at the same time.
The gameplay remains almost the same, we have to "clean up" Vaders waves one after the other but this time with a boss waiting for us at the end of each level. Along the way we have several ways of Bonus Extras and weapons to facilitate our mission. The SPE is really a treat, striving for eye-candy, where the backgrounds are in constant motion always accompanied by energetic soundtrack.

The version I have is for the PSP and what the differences seen for the Nintendo DS version is just the graphics. The PSP has graphics with higher resolution, while the NDS uses both screens to expand the playing area and display the information in the version of PSP appear sideways.

I strongly recommend this game to everyone, not just fans of the series and the other so they can experience a Space Invaders worthy of the name.

Space Invaders Get Even

In Space Invaders Get Even the roles are reversed! In this game control groups Vaders and alien UFO, with which we can destroy large cities, all in a 3D isometric view, except for the Vaders ... still in 2D! A nice touch by Taito to keep intact an icon retrogaming. To our hopes are ground forces and their enormous bosses that we have to defeat doing smaller formations and attacks with our swarm of Vaders.

Downloads are also secured additional ships to replace our UFO, and the ships of Darius and Rayforce are two shoot-em-ups of Taito classics and even a UFO pixelated in the style of the classic Space Invaders. A game that promises hours of fun!
