Steven Poole was in Edge Magazine columnist for a long time and has released several books related to video games.
Steven decided (driven by the launch of Amazon's Kindle as himself says) to offer free one of her books in ebook format - Trigger Happy, released in 2000.
As he mentions in his blog:
Trigger Happy is a book about the aesthetics of videogames - What They share with cinema, the history of painting, or literature, and What Makes Them different, in terms of form, psychology and semiotics.
It seems to me a good reading is free and is released with a Creative Commons license. Trigger Happy has just been voted the book on my weekend ![]()
